Ha ha ha ha ha ha…. Jesus did have two dads. And he was born through a surrogate mother too. Could God have been showing us the way the truth and the light, that a family does not merely compose of those are biologically capable of producing offspring?

This video was my introduction to the Cult of Dusty vlog on youtube, which is a very funny and most insightful series of videos, having to do with atheism. Dust (I do not know what else to call the fellow), provides a summary of the five part mini series being aired on History Channel chronicling the first few books of the Christian Bible; Genesis Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy etc….

Dusty makes some great points in his review video, aside from the fact that the Biblical story is a work of fiction.

One thing that resounded with me, is that this iteration of the “truth”, is no different from the many, many others made over the decades. It is told from the perspective of white, westerners. All the main characters are blindingly white, despite living in an area and time with significant racial and ethnic diversity. Then of course there is the tinge of racism. Having an Asian angel going ham, as the youth of today will say, on a mob of Sodomites/Gomorrahrites, with his ingrained skills as a martial artist. In an attempt to be more inclusive, Mark Burnett and company suggest that only Asians (and I believe they were thinking Chinese, maybe Japanese), fell into the Hollywood tradition of tokenism.

Of course one thing I came to realize is that Abraham is one of the greatest assholes in fictional history and his wife Sarai/Sarah, what heartless bastards the both of them. To send a woman and her young son into the dessert to wander around, essentially sentencing them to die. What a bastard. This is the famous patriarch that Christians the world over are taught to regard as one of the more exemplary of Yaweh’s servants. Oh, I am so glad I am no longer a Christian.

So very true. I am so glad that god has finally decided to clear that up for us. I hope his minions will harken to these words.

In Rare Public Statement, God Tells Pat Robertson to Shut the Fuck Up

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report) – Rev. Pat Robertson’s controversial remarks in which he advised that it was acceptable to divorce a spouse with Alzheimer’s drew a harsh rebuke from God Almighty, who held a press conference today to tell him to “shut the fuck up.”

The bearded King of the Universe, dressed in His trademark flowing white robe and carrying a lightning bolt, spoke to reporters at New York’s Hyatt Grand Central for forty-five minutes in a press conference specifically called to denounce the televangelist.

“I’ve held my tongue while he’s jabbered on and on about me punishing this group and that group with floods and earthquakes and such, but this was the last straw,” He said.  “Enough already with that moron.”

In addition to debunking Rev. Robertson’s Alzheimer’s statement, the Almighty categorically denied using natural disasters in the past to punish gays, Haitians, and other targets of Rev. Robertson’s scorn.

“Oh, please,” He said.  “That’s just weather.”

On another topic, God attempted to put distance between Himself and the presidential candidacy of Gov. Rick Perry of Texas: “Rick Perry is qualified to be President in the same way that Olive Garden is qualified to be Italy.”

spiritualinspiration:

God wants you to live in freedom from competition with others. It’s easy to go through life competing with everyone around us. When we see someone that’s more talented, more beautiful, or has more gifts, instead of running our own race and being comfortable with who we are, so often we feel inferior and think, we’ve got to catch up to them.We begin to compete and compare. But this is a never-ending cycle; there will always be someone ahead of us that is more of this or that. Learn to be the best that you can be and celebrate who God has made you to be. Learn not to be jealous of others; instead, celebrate what is going on in their life. If you desire to fulfill your God-given destiny and reach your full potential, learn to stay focused on who God has called you to be. As you do, you’ll not only enjoy your life more, but you’ll become all that He’s created you to be because you’re focused on your own race.

If god had not wanted us to compete with one another, then he/she/it would have made the world fair. He/She/It would have ensured an equal distribution of all resources. However, not creating an egalitarian world has ensured that there will always be competition. It is precisely the above kind of thinking that allows people with significantly more resources, to oppress others. It is also this kind of thinking that inhibits those with less from aspiring to do better. It is a mentality that suggests that everyone should accept their station in life and just take it, which is utter rubbish!
How is it fair, that someone is born into a royal family and is guaranteed a life of luxury and at the same time, someone is born into a home where there is a significant chance that they will not reach the age of 5.  You cannot tell the child not to do everything to ensure its survival. Nor can you tell the parents of the child not to strive for the betterment of their family’s future.
“Being the best you can be” requires that you set goals. Very often the objective is framed in such a way that if given certain conditions, you will equal someone or some group of people, in performance or even surpass them. That process embodies competition. Being the best you can be, requires some envy for without being envious of another’s station, you will not have the drive to achieve greater things for yourself.
If god had created a situation where we were all on an equal footing, then there would be no need to worry about “being the best you can be”, because you would already be the best.
